Tottenham Hotspur gear up summer bid for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move to acquire Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, and the North Londoners are gearing up to make a positive impact on the midfielder’s signatures as they look to make a possible bid this summer.
The Lilywhites have been tagged as favourites to land the 24-year-old’s services for some time, and they are looking to reciprocate their interests with a bid for his signatures.
The England international played an integral role under former Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino last season while starting 35 games in the English top tier and wearing the skipper’s armband frequently at Stamford Bridge.
Gallagher is an engine in the heart of the park, as he complemented his grind on the pitch with five goals and seven assists last season.
The Premier League giants have been linked with a move for Conor Gallagher since last summer, and Spurs interest could compound into a much-anticipated transfer soon.
Tottenham have already added to their roster in the midfield, with English prodigy Archie Gray coming in from Leeds, and Gallagher would be the marquee addition the club is striving for.
Can Tottenham bridge the valuation gap for Gallagher?

Ben Jacobs, speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, discussed the North Londoners’ interest in the England international. He acknowledged that while Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in the 24-year-old, both of them would be unable to meet Chelsea’s expectations for his signatures, leaving Tottenham as the top contender for his services.
Jacobs also mentioned that Daniel Levy & Co. have put a £35 million price tag on the midfielder, while Chelsea are looking for a package in line with Mason Mount, around £55 million.
Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Jacobs said:
“I think Villa can’t afford Gallagher at the moment, even though they made an exploratory approach. Atletico Madrid made an informal offer of about €20 million, which is way below Chelsea’s valuation, so there’s nothing going on there.”
“That really only leaves Spurs at the moment, and even with Archie Gray joining Tottenham, they’ll still be in the mix for Conor Gallagher. Their valuation is the same as it was 12 months ago, somewhere around £35m, whereas Chelsea are saying Gallagher should go for a similar price to Mason Mount, a £55m package.”
“We wait and see if something gives. £40-45 million might do it, but Chelsea are bullish at the moment. Right now, the situation is as it has been for months. Nothing advanced with a new Gallagher deal; Chelsea want £50-55 million; Tottenham are likely to bid.”

Conor Gallagher is a transfer that would take Tottenham’s midfield to another level, although it would be a difficult stalemate to force Todd into agreeing to a lower fee for his star midfielder who Petr Cech described as captain in the making. We will have to see if Levy gives in and pays up for Gallagher or if negotiations reach an impasse and Tottenham explores other midfield targets to strengthen their squad.
