Tottenham suffer transfer blow in pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White
According to an exclusive report on Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a blow in their pursuit of talented 24-year-old midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.
According to the aforementioned report, the English midfielder who was rather unlucky to miss out on a Euros 2024 berth with the Three Lions has decided to remain at Forest for another season despite top clubs being interested in him.
Spurs’ interest in the player has been established for quite some time now. The North London club have been looking to add more skill and flair to the midfield and not many players can bring both that and steel to a team like Gibbs-White can.
With six goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for the 24-year-old last season, Gibbs-White has the stats to back his performances on the pitch and deserves the interest he is receiving.
The Nottingham Forest man is the definition of versatility. Although predominantly an attacking midfielder, the 24-year-old can play on the right, left, as a centre-forward or even deeper in midfielder as a #8.
Currently, the only #10 Spurs have on their roster is James Maddison. Yes, they do have Giovani Lo Celso in the squad but the player doesn’t seem to have much backing from Postecoglou and it’ll be natural if the coach is thinking of an upgrade.
Speaking about the English midfielder, Nuno Espirito Santos was full of praise for Gibbs-White calling him an ‘already mature’ player with a ‘good attitude’. Understandably, he wants to keep him at Forest.
Although the door seems closed for now, the transfer market is always an unpredictable avenue where things keep changing by the minute. Even though Gibbs-White might not be available at the moment, you never say never say never.
