Levy compromises on fee as long-drawn Tottenham Hotspur transfer saga nears completion

Emerson Royal exit nears completion as Spurs lower asking price

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The South American defender has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs after Ange Postecoglou took charge of the club last summer. Pedro Porro has gone on to take his position in the starting eleven, and he has not found a way in Lilywhites XI since.

His surplus to meet the requirements at N17 means the club wants to cash in on him and reinvest the sum in other areas of the squad.

Stalemate broken?

Italian giants AC Milan have been primarily linked with a move for the former Barcelona defender, and they have gone on to agree on personal terms with the player and his representatives.

However, Milan are taking advantage of the situation and trying to press Spurs into a lower fee for his signatures.

While it didn’t work for a while, the clubs were expected to meet this week and sort their differences apart as Milan wanted to conclude the transfer as the upcoming campaign commenced shortly.

This is a saga that has stretched beyond its limit, and many Spurs faithful would just want to hear the end of it, but both clubs will have to find common terms for that to happen, which could be the case soon.

And Calciomercato.com, Daniel Levy, initially put on a €20 million valuation on Emerson; however, the Spurs chairman has now reduced that to €18 million, including bonuses, to ensure a smooth transfer can be completed.

By reducing the asking fee, the club is showing that they need to expedite Emerson’s transfer and move on to do some business of their own, as Tottenham would look to reinvest the fees in upgrading the current roster before heading into the upcoming campaign.
