Levy plotting Richarlison sale to fund big-money striker
Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.
Spurs have been in the summer market to sign a new number nine as they lack a marquee forward that can provide consistent output upfront.
Richarlison has enjoyed a mixed time in his stint at White Hart Lane following his €58 million-rated move from Everton in July 2022. In his time donning the Lilywhites badge, the Brazilian has made 66 appearances while scoring only 15 goals and producing eight assists, which is an underwhelming output when playing upfront for Tottenham.
His tenure at the club has been a combination of injuries and inconsistent form, leading to an increasing call for a potential departure.
O’Hara’s verdict seals Richarlison’s fate at Spurs?
The former Watford striker has faced criticism from former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who suggests that the player does not fit the style of play employed at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.
He insists that Richy lacks intelligence and awareness in the final third to become a key component of the Spurs attack. And despite his ability to find the net, his faulty link-up play disrupts the offensive sequence on a regular basis.
Speaking on talkSPORT about Richy and his ability to thrive at Tottenham, Jamie O’Hara said:
“The problem with Richarlison is that he knows where the net is, but his link-up play comes off him too much. You know, when it goes into little one-twos and around the box, he is not clever enough. And that, for me, he has got to work on, and I am hoping Ange has gone into him and has been like, Look, we need to step up if you are going to play number
9 for us, if you are to be that player.”
Daniel Levy & Co. are open to selling the forward despite his deal running at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2027.
