Tottenham secure long-term future of the next Harry Kane

Mikey “next Harry Kane” Moore signs first pro contract at Spurs

Spurs have handed their star academy forward Mikey Moore his first senior professional contract. The 16-year-old has been handed a three-year deal, the biggest allowed by FIFA for U18 players.

The England U17 international shone at the U17 Euros earlier this summer.

Moore has been attracting eyeballs from all over Europe for a while.

Born in Southwark in 2007, Moore is a Tottenham boy through and through, having been at their academy since 2016.

He broke into the senior Spurs setup last season, making two appearances off the bench during their last two Premier League games of the season and becoming their youngest-ever league player in the process.

Moore has also been a key part of the Spurs pre-season squad for this season, receiving effusive praises from Ange Postecoglou.

“Mikey has been fantastic since we brought him in. He’s earned his spot on the roster at the moment, he did at the end of last year. He got a run with the first team because we could see in training that he was handling himself really well and that’s followed through into pre-season training.

“All we can do is keep allowing him to develop. We have to remember that last year he had some injuries and he is only 16, but yeah, super exciting.”

Postecoglou on Moore after a recent friendly against VIssel Kobe, as quoted by The Athletic.

Moore’s youth record at Spurs makes him the club’s most anticipated star since Harry Kane.

Moore's numbers for Spurs' youth teams: 31 games, 19 goals, 13 assists.

Keeping up the good work

The way Spurs have gone about building a core of young highly-rated player this summer has been simply exceptional.

Technical director Johan Lange has been keeping good on his promise, it’s safe to say, whether it comes to beating rival clubs to players from the outside or keeping star academy players at the club.

Spurs are on the right path. They just need to be patient, and success will come their way soon enough.
