Tottenham reduce Lo Celso price to £10 million

Tottenham Hotspur signed Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis for a sum amounting to £27.2 million. After impressing in his early days in north London, the player has fallen out of favour and is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans for the 2024/25 season.

According to Football Insider, his price has been dramatically slashed to £10 million with Spurs willing to accept a bid around the ballpark for his sale.

Real Betis are considering his return, whereas Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the midfielder, who Tottenham hope to permanently part ways with this summer after he was on loan at Villarreal for the last year and a half.

Initially, it was said that a £15 million transfer fee would convince Tottenham to sell him but given that the 28-year-old’s contract expires in 2025, the Lilywhites are happy to receive as much as they possibly can for Lo Celso rather than lose him as a free agent.

Lo Celso's time at Tottenham could be coming to an end.
Lo Celso’s time at Tottenham could be coming to an end.

The Argentine international was a part of their Copa America squad earlier this summer. He has the best years of his career still ahead of him and therefore, a transfer to newer pastures could be an appealing option for Lo Celso.

His Tottenham salary amounts to just £3.64 million per year, which is unlikely to be much of a deterrent for either Aston Villa or Betis, for whom the finances would be viable in any possible deal for Lo Celso.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Premier League giants are willing to dip into the market this summer to replace Lo Celso. While the player may not be replaced in a like-for-like manner, Spurs could channel the proceeds from his sale for newer signings.
