Jamie Donley set to head out on loan to Leyton Orient after signing a new contract at Tottenham
These are exciting times for Tottenham Hotspur fans as there are so many budding talents in the academy trying to break into Ange Postecoglou’s first team.
Ange Postecoglou and the club’s top officials are planning well behind the scenes to nurture them accordingly. They will look to ensure that these academy talents develop well—either by getting minutes off the bench or going out on loan to Championship or EFL clubs.
One such player who could be heading out on loan in the final weeks of the transfer window is academy starlet Jamie Donley, but after having bagged a new contract.
According to Football Insider Paul O Keefe, Jamie Donley has signed a new contract at Tottenham. It is an improved contract that ties him with the club until the summer of 2028. Club insider John Wenham revealed that he thinks Donley is better than Jobe Bellingham.
O Keefe’s admission comes after reliable Football London reporter Alasdair Gold had claimed on his official X account that Donley is set to join League One club Leyton Orient on loan for the upcoming season. The youngster is expected to get plenty of minutes at Leyton Orient to aid his growth as well as well as provide him with valuable experience.

Donley joined Spurs as an eight-year-old kid and has enjoyed a stellar rise through the club’s youth ranks. The attacking midfielder has caught the eye since coming through the youth ranks and enjoyed a strong last year.
The Antrim-born starlet made 25 goal contributions in 27 games across all competitions, bagging eight goals and assisting an extra-ordinary 17 more. Donley has also played for the senior Spurs side, managing three appearances.

This further demonstrated Donley’s ability and huge potential for success in the future.
The idea to send Donley on loan—likely to be at Leyton Orient—is because they believe that such a move will let him get regular minutes in his tank and thrive in a low-pressure environment. The Englishman is predominantly considered a second striker, someone capable of playing as a number nine or a 10, and such versatility would add value to the League One club’s attacking ranks.

Perhaps there would have been an argument that Donley would be ready to play in the Championship immediately after his exploits in our club’s youth ranks, but Tottenham’s decision appears to be a smart one.
