Manager confirms £50,000 per week ‘priceless’ Tottenham target will not play as he awaits exit

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur have been aiding in bringing in a new midfielder in the ongoing summer transfer window as the North Londoners look to ascertain depth in their roster going into the new season.

Ange Postecoglou has been conducting a midfield revamp in the off-season, with veteran midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaving the club for Ligue 1 side Marseille, while Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a Spurs exit as well.

Daniel Levy would be looking to bring in a midfielder to ensure that the Australian gaffer has all bases covered going into a brand new Premier League season.

The Premier League giants have been subject to aggressive links with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

The England international has been a target for the Lilywhites since last summer; however, nothing has materialised amid links. Spanish side Atletico Madrid are the closest to securing his signature; in fact, the player has already concluded his medical with the La Liga side, although last-minute changes in the deal have kept the transfer from concluding and presented Tottenham another opportunity at signing Gallagher.

The £50,000-per-week midfielder who was termed ‘priceless’ by former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has been ruled out of action by the West Londoners as they try to ensure his future away from Stamford Bridge.

Manager confirms potential exit

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca also confirmed that Conor will not be involved in the game as the club strives to secure his future away from the club. The former Leicester City manager speaking via. BBC said:

“Conor is back and training a bit apart. He is doing some medical tests and training, he won’t be involved in this game. You know better than me that he is trying to find a solution with the club and we will see what happens. Hopefully, Conor’s situation finishes with the player, the club and all the people happy.”

With the transfer window heading into its conclusive weeks, the Lilywhites faithful would hope that the club finds a potential solution with Chelsea to bring Gallagher, or finds another target soon.
