Tottenham eyeing bargain move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

For the past week or so, talks surrounding Tottenham Hotspur’s potential move for Federico Chiesa have died down. Prior to that though, there were incessant updates that the North London club wanted to sign the player.

We covered a story around 10 days ago revealing that West Ham were going to rival Tottenham for the signature of the out-of-favour Juventus winger. That was the last that we heard of the story but there is an update now.

Juventus are desperately trying to sell the 26-year-old this summer as they look to move into a new era under ex-Bologna coach Thiago Motta. Chiesa is one of the many players that the Old Lady is looking to let go.

What did Thiago Motta say now?

Speaking about Chiesa’s situation, Motta has issued yet another ‘Come get-me’ plea to clubs around the world by making his stance clear on the Italian winger [Fabrizio Romano]

“Our position on Federico Chiesa hasn’t changed. He’s not part of our plans. We’ve talked. It’s a demonstration of the respect I have for everyone. Transparency, clarity, that’s the way I communicate with my players”

Motta is doing the best that he can to try and drum up some interest in the Euro 2020 star. Once regarded as one of the most talented young Italians in world football, Chiesa is looking for a fresh start in his career.

Should Tottenham bite?

At this point, Tottenham’s interest in Chiesa comes as no surprise. This has been going on for almost the entire summer now and the question is whether Daniel Levy & co. bite at the opportunity and bid for him.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad needs a new winger and the £183k a week star is available for an absolute bargain this summer. He is capable of playing on both wings and also as a striker and offers a great option.

Chiesa might not be a starter for Spurs if he came here but he has the potential to make the left wing his own in a post-Son Heung min era for the club. At his best, the Italian can be ‘unstoppable’, as revealed by Giorgio Chiellini.

Towards the end of this transfer window, Spurs might be looking at market opportunities and Chiesa is one of the best out there. Let’s see if the club make a move for the Italian in the coming days.
