Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to upgrade the overall depth of the squad, and one of the likely positions where they lack a dependable backup option is between the sticks.
The North Londoners have Italian goalkeeper Vicario taking up the responsibility with the gloves; however, there is not an equally qualitative depth to his services at White Hart Lane, and Ange Postecoglou would want to exploit the transfer market to ensure he gets a sufficient backup option in the goalkeeping department.
Goalkeeper crisis looms for Spurs as Arsenal close in on Garcia
The Lilywhites have been subject to links with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who has been tipped in high regard. However, with quality come suitors, and Spurs neighbours Arsenal have also expressed interest in signing Garcia.

The Gunners have already beat Tottenham to one signing this summer when they moved to sign Riccardo Calafiori. Mikel Arteta’s side is vying to sign another player from Spurs’ grasps as they agree on personal terms with Joan Garcia.
This means that the Gunners would have a backup to David Raya if they were to sell Aaron Ramsdale. That being said, Spurs still have the space to conduct a last-minute hijack and take Garcia from Arsenal’s grasp, especially if Daniel Levy is to work diligently with his current employers to get a possible agreement over the line.
Everything is not done yet
In Garcia, Spurs can not only sign an understudy to Vicario but also someone who can compete with the Italian for his place between the sticks.
