Tottenham lining up a move for Lille star Angel Gomes in 2025
It seems Tottenham Hotspur have already started planning for the January transfer window, after spending millions in the past summer window.
The North London giants enjoyed a successful summer transfer window, as chairman Daniel Levy loosened his purse strings to back the head coach Ange Postecoglou. Not only did Levy bring in some hugely exciting players but also ensured that the deadwood in Ange Postecoglou’s dressing room was moved on.
Now, the club are identifying targets for winter. The additions of youngsters Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have pretty much reinforced the midfield unit; however, they now have set their sights on a deep-lying playmaker.

Angel Gomes was recently called up to the England squad by interim boss Lee Carsley. After coming on as a substitute during the Republic of Ireland clash, he started in the 2-0 win over Finland at Wembley Stadium earlier this week. He competed the full 90 minutes as the Three Lions made a perfect start to their UEFA Nations League campaign under Lee Carsley.
The 24-year-old’s debut for England comes off the back of a strong 2023/24 campaign in Lille colours. A tactical switch from the No.10 role to a deeper central midfield position under former boss Paulo Fonseca saw Gomes play some of his career’s best football in the previous campaign. He registered two goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions as Les Dogues finished fourth in Ligue 1.
