Tottenham summer signing faces one month on sidelines

published :

Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of injury concerns for a while, and the Lilywhites received a setback recently when summer signing Wilson Odobert was forced out of the North Londoners recent win over Coventry City.

Spurs signed the French winger from Burnley in the recently concluded summer transfer window as Daniel Levy led the move for the wavy wide forward as a Nico Williams alternative.

Early setback for Spurs’ promising winger

Tottenham faces uncertainty over Odobert injury return

The 19-year-old didn’t take long to burst into the scenes with a striking display on his debut against Everton last month. However, the player has suffered an early setback to his career donning the Spurs badge.

Odobert picked up a hamstring problem against Tottenham’s inspired 2-1 comeback against Coventry City in the League Cup. He put his hands up just after the first quarter of the game and was forced off because of the issue.

The club has not given any official confirmation to the extent of the injury; however, Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou admitted that the injury “does not look good” in the presser before the Lilywhites games against Brentford.

How long will Odobert serve the sidelines?

French outlet L’Equipe has now given an update on the situation, stating that the former Burnley man’s ‘dream start’ to his career at N17 has been ‘thwarted’ by an injury. The report states that he underwent examinations on his hamstring last Thursday, and more tests are expected to follow.

Moreover, they state that the medical team at Hotspur Way estimates that Wilson Odobert will be serving the sidelines for a month. The club is expecting a mid-October return as of now.

It’s unfortunate that Odobert has picked up this injury. He not only looked lively in the short time he has played for Tottenham but also is seemingly a different threat to other wide players at White Hart Lane.

Hopefully it’s just a matter of a few weeks to his return.
