Arsenal and Tottenham prepare for North London showdown over £70k-a-week star

There are a lot of differences between the way Tottenham and Arsenal operate on the pitch, but the one thing they have in common is the dynamism their respective managers demand of their midfielders, who are tasked with both bringing creativity to the pitch as well as industry to offer resistance off the ball.

One might say that Arsenal have a more well-rounded midfield compared to that of Tottenham, though there is always room for improvement.

To that end, both sides have a golden opportunity to strengthen themselves while getting one over the other.

Arsenal and Tottenham both monitoring Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey

As reported by TeamTalk, both Tottenham and Arsenal have been monitoring Jacob Ramsey, whom Aston Villa may have to reluctantly sell in the coming months to generate pure profit.

The Villa academy graduate is a versatile midfield operator, capable of playing both centrally and out wide, both deeper and further up the pitch, and is very well regarded in the big clubs circle ever since arriving onto the scene in 2019.

The England U21 international already has over 100 appearances for Villa across all competitions, in which he has delivered 14 goals and 13 assists. He has also already made 10 appearances this season, registering a goal and assist each.

Valued by Transfermarkt at €32 million, Ramsey has in place a £70k-per-week contract with the Villans set to run until June 2027.

Tottenham have their work cut out

Ramsey is a high-rated player and will suit quite a fair few Premier League sides at the top, which makes a move for him quite tricky for Spurs.

That said, there is a good chance that Spurs may want to make a statement or two in winter and summer. First, they are accelerating towards receiving a huge cash injection. Secondly, there is a fairly decent likelihood of Ange Postecoglou to be shown the exit door before the end of this season if things turn out the same way they did last term.

Ramsey is a well-rounded player. If Spurs enter the market with intent, they will be able to utilise him regardless of whom they have at the helm.
