Tottenham may not receive financial boost through Dele Alli transfer if Everton relegates to the Championship.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has incurred a difficult period since his White Hart Lane exit, and things have taken a turn for the worse off late as he has not played professional football for the past two years. The Hotspur Way academy graduate last kicked a ball in February 2023 when he was plying trade in Turkish club Besiktas; however, there has been a massive halt in his career since.

That being said, the player does believe that he can get his career moving in the right direction and has been training with Everton in order to gain fitness and sharpness. He didn’t feature in the past campaign owing to a long-term thigh injury, albeit he is fit and training now as he eyes a return to action.

French side Lille have shown interest in landing the 28-year-old despite his horrendous couple of years, per the Daily Mail.

Dele Alli eyes return after two-year absence

Lille showing interest in struggling Dele Alli

It is sad to see someone that the Lilywhites supporters cheered with top of their vocals at White Hart Lane, someone that brought so much joy around N17 suffer. He was a talented boy that took strides to his game under former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino as he led his boyhood club into a Champions League finale in 2019.

However, things have gone downhill since that high, as once a poster boy at Hotspur Way soon became an outcast once Jose Mourinho took over the reins at Spurs, and since then he has been struggling to put two feet right. Alli went to Everton and followed that up with a move to Besiktas to rejuvenate his career, although that didn’t yield the desired results.

Now hopefully he can yield some dividends and get his career back on the wagon at Lille.
