Tottenham legend namedrops 'top' Spurs signing Dejan Kulusevski that he is not keen to go up against.

Tottenham ace Dejan Kulusevksi has become one of the first names on Ange Postecoglou’s teamsheet this season

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Dejan Kulusevski has been growing in stature under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou.

Before the ongoing campaign, the Sweden international struggled to produce the goods consistently for the Lilywhites. While Spurs are slowly recovering from a slow start to the 2024/25 Premier League season, the 24-year-old’s fantastic yet steady form has been impossible to ignore.

In Spurs’ 4-1 win over London counterparts West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, Ange Postecoglou played his favourable 4-3-3 formation with Dejan Kulusevski starting as one of the No.8s. Tottenham dominated the early parts of the game but West Ham provided a sucker punch via Mohammed Kudus’ goal.

Kulusevski equalised for the hosts in the first half, but his all-round performance beyond the goal was equally enjoyable. Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood loved what he saw from the Swedish attacker and waxed lyrical after the Big Ange-managed side’s big win over the Hammers.

“He [Postecoglou] has transformed him into a central midfield player,” Sherwood told Premier League Productions (h/t GIVEMESPORT).

“I always look at midfield players as if I would go up against them. I wouldn’t want to go up against this guy. He is 6ft 2in, he is quick, he is strong, he travels with the ball, he has got an eye for a pass, and obviously he has got an eye for a goal. He scored eight goals in the Premier League last year, that’s his second goal. He scores big goals. He scored in the derby today. He scored at Old Trafford.

“If he can continue with that ratio, he is a player. He is one of the very few top signings they have made.”

Dejan Kulusevski starred in Spurs’ 4-1 win over West Ham at home

The Stockholm-born talent has been running the show for the north London side, consistently delivering quality performances. He helped Spurs dominate West Ham, covering a lot of ground and working hard in and out of possession. Operating as a right-sided central midfielder, the £110,000 per-week star influenced the game and combined extremely well with his teammates in and around the final third.

Truly, Kulusevski’s transformation as a creative central midfielder has brought outstanding results in Big Ange’s high-octane, aggressive and pressing system. He has now become one of Spurs’ most creative outlets, and his positional shift has allowed Brennan Johnson to thrive on the right wing.

The Hotspur Way faithful and Big Ange will hope Kulusevski maintains his form and makes telling contributions every time he steps onto the pitch. If the Swede continues to grow, he will undoubtedly go down as one of our club’s best signings during the Daniel Levy era.
