Dominic Solanke has enjoyed a fine start to his Tottenham career

Tottenham Hotspur boasts plenty of fantastic attackers in their ranks, including one who forced the club to break their transfer record to sign him in the summer.

The player in question is Dominic Solanke, who has enjoyed a steady start to life at White Hart Lane following his big-money move from Bournemouth. The 27-year-old is obviously still adapting to the demands of gaffer Ange Postecoglou but so far, he has shown promising signs.

The England international’s display in Spurs’ 4-1 win over West Ham United earned him huge praise from Ange Postecoglou, despite his failure to find the back of the net. His pressing, work rate and general link-up play were critical in the big victory over our London rivals.

Dominic Solanke was recently called up to the England squad in which he had an opportunity to interact with our legendary hitman Harry Kane, who left Spurs to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023. The striker has shared that he spoke in length with Kane—our club’s record goalscorer—whilst away on international duty and tried to learn the tricks of the trade to become one of the best strikers in Europe.

Our record acquisition claims he didn’t ask for special advice from the Bayern Munich star but learned a lot from their chat.

“Yeah, of course, we spoke a lot while we were there together and we have this [Tottenham] in common now so we spoke and he is a great guy. A great lad to learn from,” Solanke told The Independent.

“Not really [any advice]. We were just speaking about his experiences and stuff like that. Obviously, he has done so much in football and it’s nice to pick his brain.”

Kane is one of the world’s best strikers and his numbers don’t lie. He has been banging goals left, right and centre for Bayern as the England international aims to win the Ballon d’Or next term.

Solanke has an uphill task to fill in Kane’s void at Spurs, especially after arriving in a club-record deal from Bournemouth. There is a different pressure of scoring goals at Spurs than at Bournemouth, and while he may not be scoring goals just yet, his performances since returning from an ankle injury have been key in helping Big Ange’s get their Premier League season back on track.

The £90,000 per-week centre-forward is very new in his Spurs chapter, so the conversations he’s had with Kane at the England camp during the October international break should help him a lot. At 27, Solanke is arguably at the peak of his powers and he would be raring to put Kane’s invaluable input into his game to enjoy a highly successful career at the Hotspur Way.
