Bournemouth’s stance revealed on Tottenham’s transfer target

Date:

Tottenham are interested in signing Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham Hotspur have recruited smartly since Ange Postecoglou arrived at the Hotspur Way in 2023.

Daniel Levy and Co. have focused on investing in highly talented young players with great potential rather than experienced players enjoying the peak years of their careers. The North London club made some astute acquisitions in the summer transfer window to enhance Ange Postecoglou’s squad that had finished fifth in the Premier League past campaign.

Spurs have already begun to draw up plans for the upcoming transfer windows as they aim to further fine-tune their squad to compete on all fronts. They could well look to strengthen their attack further in the wake of skipper Son Heung-min’s advancing age and Timo Werner’s underwhelming performances after he re-joined on loan from RB Leipzig.

And it looks like the Lilywhites could raid Bournemouth again after signing Dominic Solanke on a club-record deal in the summer. Tottenham are eyeing a move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, who recently tormented Arsenal in his team’s 2-0 win at the Vitality Stadium.

The Ghana international has enhanced his reputation as one of the Premier League’s trickiest wingers in the last couple of years. He was among Bournemouth’s best players last season, wreaking havoc against defences with his speed, unpredictability, dribbling and directness. The 24-year-old registered eight goals and two assists in 33 Premier League appearances, thus, becoming a mainstay in attack under Andoni Iraola.

Antoine Semenyo has started the new campaign strongly with three goals and an assist in eight Premier League appearances. For his efforts, the £50,000 per-week star has won Bournemouth’s Player of the Month for September as well as grabbing Goal of the Month award. The Cherries ace’s form in the Premier League has attracted interest from several clubs including Tottenham.

However, according to talkSPORT’s Transfer notebook, Bournemouth are relaxed over Semenyo’s situation having only tied him down to a bumper new five-year contract in the summer until 2029 (Transfermarkt).

Given the winger has a lengthy contract now at the south coast, the Cherries find themselves in a commanding position. This means they can demand a hefty fee for the London-born talent, who has spoken publicly about his desire to one day play in the Champions League. As per Football Insider, Bournemouth are likely to demand a fee in the region of £40-50 million.

Semenyo is understood to fit the age profile of a signing that Spurs have been making in the last few transfer windows. At just 24, he is Premier League-proven too with over 50 appearances. Having played with Solanke before, the Ghanaian could immediately strike a fiery partnership with the Spurs striker and take our attack to the next level. His versatility to operate on eight flank and through the middle will be a blessing for Big Ange too.

That said, Levy must plot a bid for Semenyo, who continues to show great potential in the Premier League.
