Podcast host asks exit-linked Tottenham ace to prove his credentials

Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin has been subject to aggressive links with a move away from White Hart Lane owing to a lack of minutes under his belt. The Romanian international has been playing a second fiddle to the Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven duo at the heart of defence, and the 22-year-old has barely found game time coming his way since his move to North London at the commencement of the year.

Dragusin joined the Lilywhites in the winter transfer window of 2024, where the North Londoners secured his signatures after a late hijack attempt from Bayern Munich.

With a lack of minutes coming his way, clubs around Europe (especially Italy) are looking to take advantage of the situation and land his signature. However, amid the speculations of a Tottenham exit, John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has urged the defender to improve, as he claims that the Romanian hasn’t done enough to warrant a start ahead of Romero and Van de Ven.

Wenham: Dragusin must prove himself at Spurs

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham insists that it is down to the player to force his way into the starting eleven.

Wenham said:

“We knew that before we signed him. This is just how his agent is. However, in fairness to Drăgușin, he hasn’t said anything, it is always his agent talking.

“Drăgușin just gets on with things. He did okay when he started against AZ Alkmaar. However, he isn’t doing enough at the moment to push Romero or van de Ven out of the team.

“As much as his agent wants to talk, Drăgușin has to be doing more than Romero or van de Ven, which at the moment he isn’t. Therefore, that’s where we are with that, and there isn’t much more to say.”

While Wenham blasts Radu Dragusin, it is also important to remember that he hasn’t had a run-in to prove his credentials, and when he has taken the field for his country since his Tottenham transfer, he has been one of the best players on the pitch, and at some point that needs to be replicated at club level, and if regular chances don’t come his way, given his potential, he will try to push for a move away from White Hart Lane.
