“A week or 10 days” – Journalist gives latest on Tottenham’s new injury concern

published :

Cristian Romero has had a pop at Tottenham Hotspur chiefs following the loss to Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a thrilling outing at White Hart Lane at the weekend as the North Londoners came from behind to secure a 4-1 win over Unai Emery’s Aston Villa; however, the three points came with a big blow on the Spurs roster as star defender Cristian Romero was subbed off owing to an injury concern.

The Lilywhites started the game without one of their core defenders, with Micky van de Ven missing out on the fixture after sustaining a hamstring injury against Manchester City in the EFL Cup fixture last week. And his defensive partner Cristian Romero joined him in the injury room after he went into an erratic challenge on Villa’s goal scorer on the night, Morgan Rogers, in the second half.

The Argentine World Cup winner was subbed off after picking up a potential bone injury on the right toe, with recent reports suggesting that it set off alarm bells in the Argentine national dressing room, with the injury coming just ahead of the international break.

Romero injury not serious?

Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero has been subject to links with a move away from White Hart Lane, as he is linked with Real Madrid.

Now, Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul has given the latest on Romero’s injury, suggesting that the injury isn’t as bad as initially feared. He suggests that there is no bone injury that aggregates to a potential absence of only a week or ten days.

Sharing the update via. X, formerly known as Twitter, Edul stated:

“Cuti Romero has an injury in the right big toe ligament. There is no bone injury (fracture or fissure). It’s milder than it could have been. He’s going to be off for a week or 10 days. Argentina’s list comes out in the next few hours.”
