Why Tottenham Hotspur Made a Bold Change to Their Iconic Logo.

With seven players sidelined, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window. The club is reportedly eyeing Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu as a potential addition to strengthen their right-back options, especially with concerns over Pedro Porro’s future.

According to CaughtOffside, Spurs are preparing for the possibility of Porro leaving for Real Madrid, though Ratiu could still be signed even if Porro stays, due to the club’s high regard for the La Liga star.

Tottenham Hotspur are closely monitoring Andrei Ratiu and are preparing to make a move for the Romanian international at the end of the season. The right-back, who featured in all four of Romania’s Euro 2024 matches, is also attracting interest from Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. Despite the competition, Spurs believe the deal is achievable, as Ratiu is reportedly eager for a new challenge and can be acquired for a reasonable price.

Tottenham eyeing La Liga star

Andrei Ratiu’s release clause at Rayo Vallecano is set at €25million (£20.7m / $26.9m), a figure Tottenham can afford to meet comfortably. However, Rayo’s former club, Villarreal, are entitled to 50% of any transfer fee. The 26-year-old full-back has been in impressive form this season, registering one goal and one assist in nine appearances, and has helped Rayo secure a solid ninth-place standing in La Liga.

The £8,268 per week star has earned 25 caps for Romania, is a product of Villarreal’s academy and has previously played for ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands and Huesca in Spain before moving to Rayo in August 2023.

Tottenham is already preparing for the possibility of Pedro Porro’s departure. The Spanish full-back is reportedly a backup target for Real Madrid, should their pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool fall through. Regardless of Porro’s future, Spurs are looking for a backup right-back. This strategic move would ensure Tottenham maintains depth in the position, even if Porro were to stay.
