“I don’t mean that disrespectfully…” – Arsenal icon makes “Spursy” remark after Tottenham loss against Ipswich

Ian Wright is shocked to learn that Eric Dier moved to a bigger club than Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur endured a difficult outing against Ipswich Town at White Hart Lane yesterday as Ange Postecoglou’s side struggled to make an impact against the Premier League new comers who took all three points against the Lilywhites in a surprising result.

The Australian head coach was looking to get back to winning ways after losing to Turkish giants Galatasaray in the midweek, and he named a strong side going into the game as Spurs looked to get back to winning ways and continue their pursuit of a possible top four qualification; however, that was not the case as his side took a 2-1 blow against Kieran Mckenna’s side.

Ipswich, while they played most of the game without the ball, displayed a keen sense of attacking Vicario’s goal with intent every time they got the ball, and they found a way behind the Italian shot stopper twice in the first half.

And citing Spurs performance, Arsenal icon Ian Wright, speaking on Premier League Productions, criticised the Lilywhites performance, claiming that it was “spursy” for the club to falter in games that the North Londoners are expected to win. The former Crystal Palace striker said:

“This is Spurs and what they do; I don’t mean that disrespectfully. When they are in a good run and you think they can put more results together, they throw a performance like this out there.”

Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou will be in thick of criticism following a recent run of games, complemented by the fact that his side are lagging at 10th place in the English top tier with a risk of slipping into the bottom half of the table unless the performances were to improve after the international break.
