“Never going to win another trophy…” – Pundit takes a dig at Tottenham after Ipswich defeat

Podcast host ear-marks Tottenham talent Dorrington for much needed loan spell.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disastrous defeat against Ipswich Town at White Hart Lane last weekend in what was a surprising defeat of the Premier League weekend, and in the aftermath of the loss, Richard’s Keys has told the club’s supporters to accept the fact that the Lilywhites are not to win a trophy again.

Spurs had an opportunity to club to the third spot in the Premier League table when they hosted Ipswich Town; however, they now lag tenth in the table following a 2-1 loss against Kieran McKenna’s side.

The outcome of the game showed the inconsistent approach of the North Londoners under Ange Postecoglou as the Lilywhites followed up wins against Manchester City (EFL Cup) and Aston Villa (EPL) with a loss against Galasatary (UEL) and the Tractor Boys.

Keys slams Spurs performance citing trophies

Keys: Spurs fans should accept trophy-less future

And Keys speaking on BeIN Sport after the game said:

“I think Tottenham fans might have to accept that they’re never going to win another trophy. They’ve got a fabulous stadium to play football in that occasionally they will enjoy watching their team in, but…”

Andy Gray and Jason McAteer whet on to challenge him, Keys replied: “When was the last one? Juande Ramos, 2008. How many people have tried since?”

Keys was only taking a dig at Tottenham relating to the fact that trophies haven’t made their way to White Hart Lane. That being said, Spurs do have a real chance to win silverware in the ongoing season despite their recent inconsistent form.

Spurs have made their way to the League Cup’s quarterfinals, where they defeated Manchester City and now face Manchester United in the next round. Moreover, Tottenham are also one of the favourites to win the Europa League, according to former head coach Jose Mourinho.

For Spurs, progressing further in the League Cup and Europa League could be an opportunity to both challenge for a trophy and build momentum as they seek stability in both domestic and European competitions.
