Tottenham Hotspur have been struggling to put in a decent run of form in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign as pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou as the Lilywhites lay tenth in the Premier League table, which is far from the top four objectives.
The game against Ipswich Town was a difficult loss to take for Spurs supporters, and the Australian head coach would be hoping for his players to step up after the international break. And among the current holes that they have dug for themselves, Tottenham could do with one former player in that dressing room who has been ranked even better than the legendary Thierry Henry.
Bale or Henry?
Former Tottenham wide forward Steven Bergwijn has shared his admiration for Tottenham Way icon Gareth Bale in a recent interview with Goal. While the Dutchman bid adieu to North Londoners a while back, he has carried a bit of Spurs in him with the way he speaks about Bale.
Bergwijn participated in a winner-stays-on game where Bale went on to be preferred over the likes of Mohamed Salah and Wayne Rooney; however, the real surprise came when he picked the former Madrid winger over Henry.
Gareth Bale is a modern legend at Tottenham, and his legacy continues at Real Madrid. The way the Welshman used to play and take on games is a close shout to the likes of Henry.
While Bergwijn may not have made a massive impact on the pitch, with the recent picking of Bale over Henry, he does start an open conversation about whether the Frenchman is overrated and the fact that people forget the things Gareth used to do running in from the flanks.
