Tottenham Hotspur have been subject to links with a move for Brighton sensation Facundo Buonanotte, who has been taking strides in his game on loan at Leicester City in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign.
The Argentine has three goals to his name for the Foxes, and he is the second highest goalscorer at King Power behind the evergreen Jamie Vardy. He has shown glimpses of highly technical ability complemented with precision with the passes and an eye for getting the ball in the net that has quickly turned heads from elite clubs in the English top tier.
Messi-like?
Premier League icon and former Argentina international Carlos Tevez spoke highly of the player, likening him to Messi owing to his technical ability and similar playing style.
Speaking in an interview in 2022, Tevez said, “I watch football, and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone play who gives me as much pleasure as Buonanotte. When he brakes and accelerates, he reminds me of [Lionel] Messi. He is at a very high level.”
Levy targets Buonanotte to bolster midfield
The Lilywhites have been looking to bolster their options in the middle of the park as Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou looks to add creative flair to his roster, and Buonanotte could be seen as a potential incoming that has the capacity to bring energy and skill that fit’s into the former Celtic coach’s system.
However, despite all the links, the Seagulls are not keen to sell the silky midfielder, per Graeme Bailey on TBR, with the player expected to play at the Amex Stadium following his conclusion of the loan and return back to South Coast.
We will have to see where this rumour goes in the coming months.
