Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Amanda Staveley left Newcastle United’s ownership group earlier this year, a little over three years after helping the club move owners.

Now, she’s in the market for another investment opportunity, and fresh updates have emerged regarding her well-documented interest in Tottenham.

British business exec Amanda Staveley’s recent meeting with National Football League chiefs (as reported by The Athletic) could prove key in a potential investment in Tottenham Hotspur.

Staveley gave up his stake in Newcastle earlier this year and is in the market to lead another investment charge. She is accredited with the takeovers of both Man City (by Abu Dhabi Group in 2008) and Newcastle United (which was primarily led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in 2021).

Club chairman Daniel Levy stated in a fan forum earlier this year that the club needed investment and were actively looking for new parties to bring on board.

Staveley is also linked with an investment into Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

The National Football League has had a partnership agreement in place with Tottenham Hotspur for a few years now, which sees regular season NFL games played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

NFL involvement was almost inevitable

With the NFL’s pre-existing links with the club, it was almost inevitable that the US league would enter a stake-holding agreement with Spurs at some point. The PIF’s reported interest in lightening its international investment portfolio makes it even likelier that any future investment in Spurs would have an additional NFL component.

Staveley is hailed as saviour for both Man City and Newcastle; looking at their fortunes since their respective takeovers, one can see why the two fanbases feel that way. Similarly, the Spurs fans will want a new investing party to bring about an upturn in their club’s fortunes.
