Tottenham summer signing reveals his family’s excitement on him working with Ange Postecoglo

Cristian Romero could return to the Tottenham squad against Bournemouth.

Tottenham Hotspur backed their transfer policy of bringing in highly acclaimed young players at White Hart Lane in the previous summer window when Daniel Levy sanctioned a £40m transfer for Archie Gray from Leeds United.

Many Spurs faithful expressed their surprise when the North Londoners decided to fork out such massive fees for a player who barely has one season of senior football under his belt; however, the decision to do so shows the club’s commitment to long-term success and focusing on development over instant returns.

While Gray came to N17 with massive expectations, he has not been able to find regular minutes under his belt at Hotspur Way. That being said, the expectations are sky high.

And the teenager has now revealed that his family were ‘really excited’ about him joining Spurs and at the prospect of him linking up with Ange Postecoglou.

Gray will be eager to Impress Ange

Postecoglou has been facing ample pressure following a disastrous start to the 2024/25 campaign as Tottenham lay 10th in the Premier League table. However, while you can question the Australian coach about the performances, he certainly cannot be put into limelight about giving young players a chance; Archie would be hoping that comes to him soon as well.

Gray has a footballing background with his father as well as his grandfather representing Leeds United, and the 18-year-old asked on Tottenham’s YouTube channel if working with Ange was an exciting prospect, where he said:

“Yeah. And all my family were like that as well, especially Eddie and Frank and my dad (Andy), they were really excited that I’ve got the opportunity to work under him.”

This excitement to play under Ange comes from a good place given how he is attributed to developing talents and isn’t afraid to give them opportunities.
