Dejan Kulusevski has been Tottenham’s best player so far this season
Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in a game that is going to be incredibly difficult.
After losing 2-1 to newly promoted Ipswich Town before the international break, Ange Postecoglou will be seeking a rousing response from his boys against Manchester City. Spurs have been decimated by injuries and suspensions heading into the big clash at the Etihad Stadium, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Rodrigo Bentancur all unavailable.
Tottenham supporters and Ange Postecoglou suffered a scare in Sweden’s 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan in the UEFA Nations League when Dejan Kulusevski went down in pain holding his shoulder. However, the Spurs boss has calmed down fears within the fanbase by clearing the Swede of any shoulder issue.
This means Dejan Kulusevski is fully fit to face the English champions. In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, the 24-year-old opened up on relishing the prospect of facing Pep Guardiola’s side. He stated Spurs facing Man City is his “favourite game of the year”, having enjoyed recent success at the Etihad Stadium.
“My favourite game of the year,” Kulusevski told Sky Sports.
“I have such good memories from there. I know they are the best. I know they have been winning the Champions League and the Premier League for many years.
“But it’s where I come alive. I feel my body differently in those games. I feel super confident, knowing before the game that I will give a big performance. I just let God do his work. Even if there are five minutes left, I don’t panic. I know it can happen in the last second.
“I really love to play the best teams.”
Kulusevski boasts of a brilliant personal record against the Sky Blues. The Swede has scored in all three of his visits to the Etihad Stadium and created both goals in last month’s 2-1 home win in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Overall, he has bagged three goals and supplied four assists in seven games (Transfermarkt).
