Tottenham eyeing swoop for Manchester United target Matheus Cunha in 2025
Tottenham Hotspur’s situation with offensive players is far from ideal as Timo Werner’s transfer is unlikely to be made permanent, whereas Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have spent a significant time on the treatment table.
Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and Son Heung-min have mainly been the only options available at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal this campaign with even the latter having his fair share of fitness problems.
The academy graduates like Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear have been given runs in the first team although it is not feasible to play them regularly if Spurs are to fulfil their ambitions on the pitch. Consequent to that, it is expected that the club explores the transfer market for newer additions in its final third in 2025.
According to Graeme Bailey, who exclusively spoke to TBR Football, the Lilywhites are keen on landing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha. The 25-year-old has enjoyed an explosive start to the campaign, scoring seven times and assisting thrice, with Aston Villa and Manchester United also being credited with interest in his services.
Wolverhampton’s board has informed Gary O’Neill that Cunha, alongside the rest of the squad’s better players, will not be sold midway through the campaign in January with the club requiring a strong second half of the campaign to avoid relegation. If they are sent to the second division, however, matters could significantly change with Cunha expected to be among those who leave in the summer.
Tottenham will undoubtedly have an eye on the situation though Wolves will seek a reasonable transfer fee for Cunha given that they spent £43 million on his signing just two years ago. Man United are unlikely to be in the equation as they have two quality strikers, so Spurs could need to see off just Villa to land Cunha. They will undoubtedly hold the upper hand over the Clarets as they can offer the club and the player a better financial package.

Cunha would be a brilliant addition and offer realistic competition to Solanke, whereas his ability to play on the wings or across advanced roles in midfield will also prove to be an asset for Tottenham.
