Reims midfielder Valentin Atangana is on the radar of Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a solid summer transfer window, investing millions in some highly regarded youngsters to reinforce the squad. However, results have been extremely inconsistent and improvements are certainly required to boost their top-four hopes in the second half of the campaign.

Having signed young talents such as Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray on top of breaking the club transfer record for Dominic Solanke, the chiefs at the Hotspur Way are looking to make further alterations to Ange Postecoglou’s squad at the turn of the year.

According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Tottenham have joined the transfer race for highly-rated Reims midfield star Valentin Atangana. They were among the 26 sides to have scouted him last week but which game was not specified.

Big Ange has nurtured young talents at Tottenham.

Valentin Atangana is already a regular in the Reims side, earning rave reviews in France. Though born in Cameroon, the midfielder has played at various youth levels for France, from Under-17s to Under-21s. In 2022, the teenager starred in the European Under -17 Championships, helping France win the competition.

Atangana has been performing well this season although Reims are currently placed around mid-table in Ligue 1. The Yaoundé-born talent has made 13 league appearances thus far, catching the eye of several clubs across Europe.

Tottenham does have a vast array of midfield options available to them in the squad at the moment, including Archie Gray, Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall. But, they do lack that extra strength in depth, and a young talent like Atangana could well thrive under a manager like Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, with the 59-year-old giving the youth in his squad the opportunities to go out and perform on the big stages.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

As evident by the number of clubs keeping tabs on the Reims midfielder, it is clear that he is a sublime talent for his age group. Thus, when it boils down to Atangana’s potential, Tottenham must at least explore the prospect of making a move for the enforcer, who is under contract at the Stade Auguste Delaune until the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt).

This places Reims in a good position to bag a decent fee should the Lilywhites come to the table during the winter transfer window.
