Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury
The injury to Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven continues to raise a big concern for Ange Postecoglou amid tough games in fixture congestion.
The Netherlands international has been a key cog in the Spurs backline since arriving at N17 from Wolfsburg last summer, forming a strong partnership with Cristian Romero in central defence. The White Hart Lane faithful adore the centre-back for his pace, commitment and bravery but injury problems continue to haunt him.
Micky van de Ven has struggled with knee and hamstring problems, missing 25 games already combined across two seasons thus far. The 23-year-old’s recurring injuries overshadow his impressive contributions and prevent him from taking his game to the next level under Ange Postecoglou.

Football London journalist Alasdair Gold recently revealed that the centre-back is back doing work outdoors and was in the gym last mid-week when he watched Spurs’ open training session. And now injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has dropped the latest injury update on Van de Ven. He thinks the Dutchman could miss the next few games despite returning to training.
“He’s a player with a history of hamstring injuries and who relies on his high pace,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.
“So this could be a situation where they are being very methodical with his rehab despite his return to training so he can handle those demands and not suffer reinjury.
“This is why Spurs are not rushing him back and he could be missing the next few games as a result.”
Van de Ven is an asset to Tottenham; having him in the team makes a huge difference. His burst of acceleration and smart reading of the game allow Big Ange’s side to play a high defensive line. When fit, the Wormer-born talent is among the first names on the 59-year-old tactician’s teamsheet.

The ex-Wolfsburg star’s absence profoundly affects how the Lilywhites perform. However, having endured persistent hamstring issues, the club’s medical department would want to be extra careful with Van de Ven’s rehabilitation. They are going to ease the 23-year-old back but will want him available sooner rather than later.
It is good to see the medical department are buying their time to make sure Van de Ven heals fully from his hamstring problem and returns on the pitch without any relapses. Once he is fully fit and available, one would expect Van de Ven to walk straight back into this Tottenham side.
