“I expect him to become…” – Club insider praises 17-year-old Tottenham youngster

Tottenham could part ways with Yves Bissouma at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur have a plethora of talents at the Hotspur Way academy of late as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy aims to make a pipeline of players from the academy to Ange Postecoglou‘s roster in the long term, and ample starlets coming out of the academy look exciting at the moment, with each next one getting you more amazed than the last one, and Reiss Elliott-Parris is another of the less talked-about academy players who has shown glimpses of high potential.

The aim to produce talents has also been reflected in the first team, with the Australian head coach in charge of the North Londoners not being shy of giving those young players opportunities in the senior team if they have shown what it takes. And Elliott-Parris has been making an impression for himself.

Elliott-Parris joined the Lilywhites for the Under-9s and has been grinding it out in the academy since. And John Wenham, the owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has name-dropped the striker, insisting that the 17-year-old is “one to watch” at N17.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham expressed how he expects Elliott-Parris to become a regular for the Under-21s after his brace for Tottenham’s Under-18s against Chelsea Under-18s (FT: 3-3 draw) at Cobham Training Ground. He said:

“Elliott-Parris is incredibly versatile. He is able to play up front, as well as on the wings. Ahead of the match against Chelsea, he made his debut for the Under-21s the night before, coming off the bench.

“Therefore, I was quite surprised to see him straight back in with the Under-18s and scoring too. He is an interesting player and certainly one to watch over the next six months. I expect him to become the starting right winger for the Under-21s.”

Looking at a bird’s-eye view of this, the opportunity for the Elliott-Parris’ in the academy to potentially have a pathway into Postecoglou’s first team shows how the club’s approach to youth development has evolved over time, and hopefully this time around it reaps dividends in the years to come.
