Ange Postecoglou has revived Tottenham’s style of play since taking charge in the summer of 2023, earning praise for restoring belief among the fanbase. Despite this, a poor finish to last season has spilled into the current campaign. Tottenham’s struggles were laid bare in a frustrating defeat to Bournemouth, where away fans voiced their discontentment with Postecoglou. The incident has fuelled speculation over his future at the club.

TBR has revealed Tottenham’s potential candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou if the club decides to sack him in the coming weeks. Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Daniel Levy will dismiss Postecoglou if Tottenham remain 10th in the table by Christmas.
Tension is growing around the North London club, as even though there have been surprising wins but there have also been disappointing and underwhelming results. Postecoglou’s side will also face league leaders Liverpool before Christmas, and if they repeat their poor display against Bournemouth, they could struggle in those crucial fixtures.
Ipswich town coach poised to take over the Postecoglou era
Tottenham intend to stick with Ange Postecoglou, but with football’s unpredictable nature, the club is making contingency plans.
According to Football Transfers, Spurs have identified Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna as their top choice to replace Postecoglou if a change becomes necessary in the coming weeks. The 38-year-old was in high demand during the summer, with Chelsea attempting to lure him away. However, McKenna turned down their approach and opted to sign a new contract with Ipswich instead.
Ange Postecoglou can’t shoulder most of the blame for Tottenham’s poor form, with eight senior players sidelined due to injury. Adding to their woes, Rodrigo Bentancur remains unavailable as he serves a suspension until Boxing Day.
Meanwhile, Kieran McKenna has excelled as Ipswich Town’s manager since taking charge in December 2021. He guided the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions, leading them to the Premier League last summer. McKenna’s connection to Spurs runs deep, having joined the club’s youth team as a teenager in 2002. His playing career was cut short by injury in 2009, forcing him into early retirement.

Kieran McKenna’s journey with Tottenham didn’t end after his playing career was cut short. He was appointed as the club’s Head of Academy Performance Analysis and later managed the U18s team for a couple of years. Since then, McKenna has made significant strides in his managerial career, and a return to Spurs as first-team manager would be a fairytale comeback. While the Tottenham board continues to back Ange Postecoglou, the unpredictable nature of football leaves the Australian’s future far from certain.
