Tottenham Hotspur has been looking to bring in a new striker at White Hart Lane given the inconsistency and lack of availability of Richarlison as Ange Postecoglou looms for a commendable backup striker who can play an understudy role to Dominic Solanke, and Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has been subject to links with a move to N17.
The North Londoners haven’t seen the best of Richarlison despite forking out a hefty £60m to attain his services. Moreover, the Brazilian has struggled to meet expectations at Hotspur Way, where he has only scored 16 goals, showcasing his problems to find his feet donning the Lilywhites badge.
Cunha at White Hart Lane?
Spurs have been named one of the sides who are looking to sign Cunha, and John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast, Lilywhite Rose insists that the former Atletico Madrid player will want “his wages doubled” if he were to join Ange Postecoglou’s side. Moreover, he also insists that Wolves will demand a fee of around £70 million for the 25-year-old.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“Wolves will want double what they paid for Cunha. Their obligation to purchase him from Atletico Madrid was worth up to £35 million. Are Tottenham going to pay £70 million for a non-homegrown striker?
“Cunha will want his wages doubled too. Therefore, I just don’t see Tottenham doing that sort of deal, as frustrating as it is for us as fans because I do think Cunha would improve us.”
Cunha has been in fine touch in the ongoing campaign, where the Brazilian has netted seven goals and provided a further tally of three assists in 14 Premier League appearances, and a few top clubs, including Spurs and North London neighbours Arsenal, have been looking to secure his signature.
