Romero fires shots at Tottenham hierarchy after Chelsea loss
Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero suffered his second injury of the campaign after being withdrawn against Chelsea in his first start in almost a month following a problem with his foot. The Argentine international’s withdrawal contributed to Tottenham Hotspur’s unravelling against the Blues as they threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 4-3.

After the defeat, Spurs’ fourth winless result on the trot across all competitions, Ange Postecoglou’s future has come under the scanner with earlier speculation suggesting that the Australian has time only until January to show a marked change in results. Failure in doing so could see him lose his job, much to the annoyance of a lot of fans and presumably some players too.
Cristian Romero also aimed a dig at the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy as he said the following according to talkSPORT (h/t Goal).
“The last few years, it’s always the same: first, the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it’s always the same people responsible. Hopefully, they realise who the true responsible ones are, and we move forward because it’s a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year.”
The Tottenham dressing room required someone to come out and speak about the way the board has worked in the last few years. Cristian Romero took incentive and didn’t mince around with his words as he aimed a brutal dig at Daniel Levy. The 62-year-old has let down serial winners like Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho in recent years, while it seems like Ange Postecoglou could very possibly be the next one to bear the brunt of the Spurs chairman’s incompetence.
At the same time, there is enough reason for Spurs to worry because it was Romero who spoke out. He has enjoyed a successful few years with Argentina and has been one of the team’s best central defenders. His comments on the higher authority presiding over Hotspur Way came owing to his hunger to win trophies, something that is clearly not happening where he is at.

Real Madrid will be on red alert as they have shown an interest in Romero and can offer him the setting to add some silverware under his belt. The former Atalanta defender could very possibly be compelled into joining the 15-time European champions if there is no coherence and logical direction at Spurs sooner rather than later, more so after his recent remarks.
