Tottenham to battle Liverpool for the signing of Feyenoord captain Quinten Timber
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is under pressure following a poor run of results in both Premier League and Europe.
The Lilywhites stretched their winless run to eight games across all competitions following a 1-1 draw with Rangers at the Ibrox on Thursday. Their last win came at the Etihad Stadium when Ange Postecoglou’s team turned up and handed Pep Guardiola and Co. a 4-0 battering.
Now, the North Londoners have dropped out of the Europa League’s automatic qualification spots for the knockout rounds, while finding themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table. This dire run of form has raised doubts about Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club, with reports suggesting his position could be under scrutiny. However, for now, the 59-year-old appears to have the club’s backing, with the January transfer window on the horizon.

According to an exclusive report from FootballTransfers, Tottenham are interested in signing Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber. However, they are not the only Premier League club keen on him with Liverpool also keeping tabs.
Quinten Timber has grown in stature since arriving at Feyenoord from FC Utrecht in July 2022, racking up 95 appearances across all competitions thus far. The all-action midfielder, who was appointed Feyenoord’s new captain in September, is enjoying a strong season in the Eredivisie, where he has bagged four goals in 14 games. He has also shone in the Champions League with two assists in six appearances.
The aforementioned report adds the five-cap Netherlands international is expected to leave Feyenoord in the 2025 January or summer transfer window. Timber’s potential availability next month has caught the attention of Spurs, who are willing to let go of Yves Bissouma in order to make space in the squad.

Bissouma has never managed to meet the lofty expectations of the White Hart Lane faithful since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022. And with the Malian already 28, highly inconsistent and set to enter the final year of his contract in 2025 (Transfermarkt), the chiefs at the Hotspur Way are trying to move him in on and replace him with a younger midfielder.

Timber, in that regard, would be a solid potential replacement for Bissouma at Spurs. His technical skills, versatility, robustness and running power will make him a good fit in Big Ange’s high-intensity and pressing system. The Dutchman will possibly suit as a box-to-box midfielder, influencing games at both ends of the pitch.
