Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward turned left-winger Timo Werner has been on the receiving end of ample criticism from fans owing to his underwhelming performances for the North Londoners of late.
The German international is yet to find his feet in his second spell at White Hart Lane, and with his recent performance in the 1-1 draw against Rangers, where he was hooked at halftime, many question if his time at N17 has run its course.
A permanent move unlikely for Timo Werner
Spurs brought the 28-year-old former Chelsea star on another loan deal after a series of decent performances in his first spell at N17; however, it doesn’t look like the club will take up the option to make this loan a permanent deal at the end of the ongoing season with Timo ‘failing to win over influential figures behind the scenes’ at Tottenham, per GIVEMESPORT.
The North Londoners have an option to make Werner’s loan a permanent deal for £8.5 million; however, it doesn’t look like Daniel Levy is going to take up that option given the RB Leipzig loanee’s performances this season.
Werner is a confidence player, and the 28-year-old is struggling with a lack of confidence and rhythm, something that also put an end to his time at Chelsea, and while his initial loan spell at Hotspur Way had a bit of promise, he is nowhere near that level, which could call curtains to his time at Spurs.
Tottenham may also try to call the loan off in the winter transfer window; however, as Lilywhite Rose podcast host John Wenham insists, his parent club, RB Leipzig, will not take Werner back unless there is another club willing to take him on loan and cover his wages.
