Olusesi could make Tottenham debut soon
Tottenham Hotspur are facing a major injury crisis with wholesale fitness problems marring Ange Postecoglou since the start of the season. The injuries at the back and in the offensive department have been particularly unkind, whereas recently the wheels have started to unravel in midfield too.
Rodrigo Bentancur is serving a lengthy substitution for allegedly making a racist remark against Son Heung-min during the summer while Yves Bissouma missed the team’s game versus Southampton having been suspended due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
Postecoglou does not seem to have too much faith in James Maddison either and although Dejan Kulusevski has been forced to play in the engine room this season, it is likely that the manager will need to call upon Callum Olusesi from the youth step, Tottenham Hotspur News claims.
Indeed, Olusesi has made the bench against Southampton and it is not ruled out that his first official start for the Lilywhites occurs sooner rather than later. They still have a number of games left in December, including one in the Carabao Cup against Manchester United.
And though that remains a competition that Tottenham Hotspur will be keen on going all the way in, managers tend to use their secondary players in the tournament and that is not likely to be far too different in Spurs’ case given their significant injury layoffs in recent weeks.
