Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has come under scrutiny following his comments targeting the management over lack of investment and right signings, which not only took many supporters by surprise but also predictably landed the Argentine in trouble behind the scenes, and the North Londoners former player and Romero’s countryman, Giovani Lo Celso, has defended the former Atalanta defender for his comments.
Romero’s comments

In the aftermath of the Lilywhites defeat to Chelsea last week, Spurs vice-captain publicly defended under-fire head coach Ange Postecoglou while suggesting that the main problem at White Hart Lane was the fact that the club was not investing as much into the squad as the elites of the English top tier while aiming a dig at Daniel Levy, Romero said:
“The truth is, I would say no comment, but… Manchester City competes every year; you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn’t do well, strengthens again, and now they’re seeing results.
“Those are the things to imitate. You have to realise that something is going wrong; hopefully, they realise it. The last few years, it’s always the same: first, the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it’s always the same people responsible.
“Hopefully, they realise who the true responsible ones are, and we move forward because it’s a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year.”
Lo Celso backs his Argentine team mate

Now Giovani Lo Celso has hinted at similar problems behind the scenes at Tottenham while suggesting that ‘there are many strange things,’ hinting at deeper problems than people see, and while he refrained from elaborating, you could connect dots.
Lo Celso, who has been enjoying football once again with his return to Real Betis in the summer window, said (via. The Times):
“Obviously, Cuti said that for a reason, and for me as well, to be honest, there are many strange things. I prefer not to spread open a fan I cannot close, but it was very weird, very strange last season.
“If there was something that kept me afloat, it was the fans. The club is now in transition, and I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think all of us have to take responsibility.”

These remarks from Gio Lo Celso, alongside what Romero said, show that there is a broader issue at Tottenham that goes beyond individual players or managers, and while Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou is tasked with steering the club forward, a few underlying issues need to be ironed out.
