Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min is excited to link up with incoming compatriot Yang Min-hyeok
Tottenham Hotspur thrashed out a deal with K-League side Gangwon FC to sign prodigious teenage talent Yang Min-hyeok in July. He will be able to play for the North Londoners from January 1.
Yang Min-hyeok enjoyed a fantastic breakout campaign in the K-League, proving to be an invaluable asset for Gangwon FC. The explosive winger concluded the campaign with an impressive tally of 12 goals and six assists in all 38 matches, demonstrating his talent and potential.
After the conclusion of the K-League season, the South Asian talent flew to London on Monday and is set to start training with Ange Postecoglou’s side once his work permit is sorted. Yang is set to start his new adventure in English football and him teaming up with the Tottenham squad a month ahead of the schedule should be hugely beneficial.

Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min is anticipating the arrival of his ‘fantastic’ compatriot but has warned the fans to temper their expectations about the teenager, who is likely to need time to acclimatize to the rigours of Premier League football.
“I don’t want people to get too excited. There’s not any pressure [on him],” Son Heung-min exclusively told The Standard when asked about Yang.
“He’s a similar age to Mikey Moore. Everyone loves Mikey and when Yang is here I hope everyone loves him like Mikey. He’s been fantastic in his first season in the K-League, scored 12 goals and a lot of assists. He’s bright. He’s not scared.
“He’s a very bright player so I’m excited he’s coming here and I’ll try to help him as much as I can. But we just have to avoid putting pressure on him. The football side is the most important thing for him [to focus on].”

Yang, who was voted K-League’s young player of the year, held a press conference at Incheon International Airport before boarding a plane for London earlier this week. The youngster told the reporters that he is particularly looking forward to sharing the pitch with Son.
Son is an extremely popular figure back in his nation, an example for young budding talents like Yang. He is a leader and will be looking to get the incoming new arrival under his wings. The 32-year-old has a big role to play in helping the teenager settle in England and adapt to the demands of Premier League football.
