Daniel Levy is set to hand Ange Postecoglou a small transfer budget to spend in January
Tottenham Hotspur have some work to do on their squad.
Indeed, they are sitting 10th in the Premier League, despite investing millions during the summer transfer window. The Hotspur Way chiefs backed Ange Postecoglou well in the previous transfer window to reshape the squad that finished fifth in the Premier League last season.
Dominic Solanke became the most expensive acquisition in the club’s rich history, thanks to him completing a £65million switch from Bournemouth, in a bid to boost their chances of ending their 17-year-long wait for silverware. And further reinforcements could be on the way to improve the North Londoners’ position in the Premier League.
-> Tottenham eye move for Championship defender to bolster central defence
However, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Daniel Levy is set to hand a small transfer kitty to Ange Postecoglou to bolster his squad in the upcoming winter transfer window. it is believed that Tottenham will only be able to recruit a centre-back with Levy’s allotted budget.
Injuries to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies have completely exposed Spurs’ lack of depth in defensive ranks, forcing Postecoglou to pair Radu Dragusin with teenager Archie Gray in central defence. As a result, the Greek-Aussie tactician has prioritised recruiting a left-footed centre-back during the 2025 transfer intervals.
As finances will be limited next month, Big Ange’s hopes to make modifications to his squad could be hampered as he tries to bring back Champions League football to White Hart Lane. The aforementioned report adds landing a new central midfielder at good value has been considered in addition to a centre-back and wide forwards have been extensively scouted.
Leeds United’s Pascal Struijk has been among the left-footed centre-back options considered at Spurs. The Dutchman has been a reliable performer for Leeds ever since arriving in the summer of 2018. He has been a part of the Whites’ side that has juggled between Championship and Premier League football in recent years, racking up 143 appearances thus far.
-> TTLB Opinion: €16m star could be the temporary band-aid to Tottenham defensive woes
David Hancko of Feyenoord is another player on the North London outfit’s radar. The Slovakian shone in the Euro 2024 in the summer, helping his nation qualify for the knockout rounds. He impressed with his ball-playing ability, versatility, strength, energy and front-footed defending. The Feyenoord star’s price tag would come at a cheaper cost than the £35million touted in the summer.
