Tottenham in pole position to land £25m central defender ahead of 2025 January window

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to amplify their pursuit of landing Pascal Struijk in the upcoming winter transfer window as the rumours linking Spurs with a move for the 25-year-old grow with every passing week.

There is a need for a new central defender at White Hart Lane, with Ange Postecoglou screaming for a lack of depth in the heart of defence that has affected the Lilywhites duly in the ongoing 2024/25 season. The first-choice defensive duo of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have been injured consistently, while their backup, Ben Davies, has also joined the treatment room, leaving the Australian head coach to play Archie Gray, who is originally a midfielder, in the CB role.

However, the North Londoners will not be looking at Gray as a long-term solution to defensive woes with Daniel Levy pursuing a move for the Leeds ace when January comes around.

And according to a recent report by Caught Offside, Spurs are now the top contender to secure the signatures of Leeds United skipper Pascal Struijk, with a possible £25 million speculated to be enough to convince the EFL Championship side to sell.

For Tottenham, getting their hands on Pascal Struijk (or any other central defender) is important as they look to solidify the defence going into the second half of the season. And in the 25-year-old, the versatile Dutchman will not only address the immediate depth in the centre back role but also in the left back and defensive midfield roles, which makes him an ideal option to pursue.
