Lecce willing to let Patrick Dorgu leave in January amid Tottenham links
Tottenham Hotspur have a need to bring in a central defender in the mid-season trading period owing to a lack of depth in the defensive ranks.
The North Londoners are understood to be skimming the market for potential options, with boss Ange Postecoglou struggling to cope with the injury absences of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies.
In addition to a central defender, Spurs could also do well by bringing in a left-back to N17. Lecce talent Patrick Dorgu has been subject to aggressive links with a move to White Hart Lane in recent months.

As Ben Davies has been largely used as a backup to first-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie has been shouldering the responsibility of covering all the games from his natural left-back position. In doing so, however, his performance levels have dipped this season. The Italy international is just 22 and Ange Postecoglou has to manage his game time to avoid a potential burnout.
That’s when the signing of Patrick Dorgu would make sense for Tottenham. According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Dorgu is prepared to leave Lecce during the winter transfer window. The Serie A outfit are willing to entertain offers in the ballpark of £30million if the structuring of the deal satisfies their requirements.
The Denmark international’s stock continues to rise following his sizzling displays in Lecce colours. Likened to former Spurs hero Gareth Bale, the youngster has shown great versatility throughout the campaign by featuring on either side of Lecce’s defence and both flanks, bagging three goals in 15 Serie A appearances thus far. He has been among Lecce’s best players, catching the attention of several European bigwigs.
The aforementioned report adds Manchester United have begun exploring the possibility of leapfrogging bitter rivals Liverpool in the race for Dorgu’s signature. Chelsea, Napoli and AC Milan are also keen on the 20-year-old, who has a contract at Stadio Via del Mare until 2029 (Transfermarkt).
-> Tottenham ready to sign a winger in January; four-man shortlist drawn up
One of Serie A’s most promising young left-backs/wing-backs, Spurs must show ambition and go all out to sign Dorgu. Spurs play a dynamic, pressing and aggressive brand of football under Big Ange, and he would love to have a flying full-back/wing-back with the doggedness, energy, physicality, running power and technical ability of the Lecce talent.

Given the amount of interest Dorgu has garnered in Europe, it will certainly be tough for the Lilywhites to lure the Dane to North London but we must not lose hope. And the Serie A club’s supposed £30million asking price should generally not be a problem for Spurs to pay up.
