Club insider makes Quinten Timber transfer claim with Tottenham ready to sell first team midfielder

published :

Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need of a new midfielder in the upcoming 2025 transfer intervals given how Ange Postecoglou is short of options in the middle of the park, and the North Londoners have been looking to make a move for Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber.

The Lilywhites are yet to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gio Lo Celso in the roster at Hotspur Way following their departures in the previous summer window. And now, the Australian head coach is also looking to move on from Yves Bissouma.

Timber In; Bissouma out?

Ange Postecoglou wants Yves Bissouma to take up Tottenham leadership role.
Tottenham to sell Yves Bissouma and replace him with Timber?

The Malian international was subject to exit links in the summer transfer window, with many speculating the defensive midfielder to be a part of the mass exodus at White Hart Lane, albeit the former Brighton star found a way to survive. Now, Spurs are finally looking to get Bissouma off the books; however, they could struggle to sell the midfielder, who is expected to refuse to leave the North Londoners.

More urgent needs at N17

This could make any possible transfer for Timber difficult, and John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that this should not be among priorities anyway, given how Ange Postecoglou is short of quality and depth at multiple positions. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“I think midfield is one area where we are quite well-stocked at the moment. Therefore, I’d much rather a left-back or a centre-back were targeted instead. However, Timber does seem to be a player with a growing reputation. As a result, I’m not surprised that Tottenham are aware of the situation and keeping an eye on him. However, he wouldn’t be a priority signing for me.”

There would be a huge section of Tottenham supporters who would resonate with Wenham’s words, especially given how Spurs are struggling to put up a decent eleven at the moment, and despite the potential of Timber, Daniel Levy’s immediate focus should be strengthening other areas of the squad that need more urgent reinforcements.
