Four goal striker backed to return to White Hart Lane as Tottenham prepares to cut short loan deal

published :

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to reassess the situation with Alejo Veliz at Espanyol given his mixed loan spell with the Spanish side.

The 21-year-old moved to White Hart Lane in August 2023 in a highly anticipated move that created ample expectations among the Lilywhites faithful after his impressive antics at Rosario Central. And his start to life in North London did live up to the expectations with that memorable goal against Brighton, which gave the Spurs fans a glimpse of his potential.

Veliz to return to North London?

Tottenham Hotspur needed this one reassurance to sanction Sevilla deal for Alejo Veliz.
Alejo Veliz has been highly regarded at White Hart Lane.

The North Londoners looked to compound in his development with regular game time at Espanyol, albeit that option hasn’t paid off dividends just yet. While he has scored four goals in 15 appearances, the Argentine has failed to nail regular minutes under his belt, and with inconsistent opportunities coming his way, both the player and his temporary employers are open to ending the loan spell early.

Latest reports by Spanish outlet La Grada Ràdio indicate that the player is open to concluding his time at Espanyol, while AS suggests that the club is open to ending the 21-year-old’s time in RCDE Stadium with Manager Manolo González no longer confident in the Spurs loanee’s abilities.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

If Veliz is to return to White Hart Lane in the winter transfer window, it will give the North Londoners an opportunity to reassess the Argentine’s development and figure out the next steps for his career. Moreover, there is also a possibility that he may be reintegrated into Ange Postecoglou’s squad given their need for new backup to Solanke; he may also be sent out on another loan, possibly to a place where he will play more regularly.
