Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence has been putting in some exciting performances at White Hart Lane in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign as the 24-year-old salvages his career in North London.
Spence had half his foot out the doors through Hotspur Way, but things didn’t work out, and he was reintegrated into training at N17 once again. One thing led to another, and now he has come a long way after having started his first in Spurs colours in the Lilywhites 5-0 win over Southampton last week.
His presence in the defence at White Hart Lane brings a sense of defensive stability alongside offensive awareness, and if he keeps up these performances, Pedro Porro may soon have to start looking over his shoulders.
Wenham backs Spence for England call up

While the former Middlesbrough defender was linked with a loan move to Nottingham Forest last week, John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that the 24-year-old is not too far from a possible England call-up if he keeps up the current form.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“I don’t think it would take much for Spence to earn an England call-up. Especially if he continues to impress at left-back. Luke Shaw is constantly unavailable, and there isn’t anyone else in the England squad who seems to be nailing down that position as their own. Therefore, it looks as though there is a real space for someone, and Spence could take that space if he continues to feature at left-back and keeps working hard.”
Moreover, Spence’s versatility to put in performances on both flanks further strengthens his case for a possible call-up to the Three Lions camp.

For Spurs fans, there would be a sense of hope that Spence’s resurgence can help the North Londoners get near to their objectives, and if the 24-year-old were to continue his current form, the England manager could soon be watching closely.
