Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need for a new defender at White Hart Lane given the injury crisis that the North Londoners are enduring at the moment and the club has reportedly identified Leeds United centre back Pascal Struijk for a possible transfer in the upcoming winter transfer window as they look at the Dutchman to resolve the problems at N17.
The Lilywhites have been closely following the centre back’s progress at Elland Road, and looking at potential interest from Premier League heavyweights, Leeds are looking to hand their skipper a new contract to tie him down with the Yorkshire-based club on a long-term deal.
Wenham backs Robinson claims on Pascal Struijk
And looking at the 25-year-old’s record and potential, former Lilywhites goalkeeper Paul Robinson expressed doubts over the player’s credentials to play for Tottenham, and John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, also agrees to those claims.
The podcast host went on to compare Struijk with former Tottenham defender Joe Rodon to form a comparison on why one Netherlands U17 international wouldn’t be the right option at White Hart Lane.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“If you were to ask Leeds fans, they probably rate Joe Rodon higher. Tottenham sold Rodon to Leeds because he wasn’t good enough. Therefore, I think that stops that rumour right in its tracks. I can’t see that deal happening at all; I’m surprised he is linked.”
The North Londoners have been linked with multiple central defenders as they look to potentially add depth to the centre back position in January.
Tottenham need quality reinforcements, and the protest against Daniel Levy will keep growing if he continues to sign filler players and fails to add quality to the squad.
