Postecoglou praises Kulusevski for his 2024 displays at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have not had a great year as they went without a piece of silverware for the 16th successive year, whereas a Champions League berth also seems out of their reach. Ange Postecoglou has come under pressure more than once in 2024 but a strong run in the Carabao Cup has seen the Lilywhites remain in the run for a trophy at the end of the season.
Son Heung-min, the best Tottenham player on paper and their captain, underperformed in the second part of the year and had his fair share of fitness struggles as well. However, one player who did a superb job was Dejan Kulusevski. He was on target against Liverpool in the team’s 6-3 defeat and though that goal was merely a consolation, it showed how imperious the Swede’s form is.
Postecoglou took out some time in his post-match press conference to speak highly of the former Juventus star with the official Tottenham Hotspur website quoting the manager speaking the following words.
“I think Deki’s been outstanding all year. That’s probably the next part of his game, not that he’s never had it, but he’s adding it now where he’s been really clean with his finishing. It’s a credit to him. He’s taken his game to another level. I think a few of the boys have to be fair. It’s probably not as evident at the moment because we’re in a difficult situation.”
Kulusevski has been a huge asset for Tottenham and his form over the course of this season has been particularly credible. He has maintained an impeccable fitness record and adapted to a role in midfield which has seen his utility increase in the team. With some brilliant defensive attributes as well, the 24-year-old is turning into an all-round package for the Lilywhites.

Apart from his individual success at Tottenham Hotspur, the player has enjoyed a decent time with Sweden as well, whose national team he captained earlier this year. With a very formidable side, they will be hoping to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and that will be one of Kulusevski’s biggest ambitions heading into next year.
