Tottenham Player Ratings vs Nottingham Forest | Premier League 2024/25

Tottenham Stumble to a Disappointing 1-0 Defeat at Nottingham Forest

Tottenham Hotspur’s bid to reestablish themselves in the Premier League’s top 10 suffered a significant setback as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against an impressive Nottingham Forest side. The hosts, currently punching above their weight in 5th place, displayed resilience and quality to overcome Ange Postecoglou’s struggling team at the City Ground. Tottenham rested key players James Maddison, Pedro Porro, and Yves Bissouma, leaving their squad understrength for this encounter.

Anthony Elanga’s decisive first-half strike proved the difference, with Nottingham Forest making the most of their opportunities and defending resolutely against Spurs’ sporadic attacks. Despite moments of promise, Tottenham failed to capitalize on their chances, much to the frustration of their supporters. Adding to their woes, Djed Spence was sent off in the closing stages, compounding a disappointing evening for the visitors.

The defeat heaps further pressure on Postecoglou, whose tenure is coming under increasing scrutiny. While the board remains publicly supportive, the patience of the fanbase is visibly wearing thin as Spurs languish mid-table. With challenging fixtures on the horizon, Tottenham must urgently regroup and find solutions to their mounting problems.

This result leaves Tottenham in a precarious league position, with Brentford hot on their heels. A Brentford victory in their upcoming clash with Brighton could see them leapfrog Spurs, further intensifying the pressure on Postecoglou and raising questions about his ability to guide the team to success in his second season.

Here Are Tottenham’s Player Ratings from the slow-paced defeat

Player Ratings –

Fraser Forster: (6/10)
Made a few routine saves but was largely untroubled apart from Elanga’s decisive strike. Could not do much for the goal.

Djed Spence: (5/10)
Tried to contribute in the attack but left gaps defensively. His decision-making in key moments was inconsistent. Unnecessarily got himself a red card.

Radu Drăgușin: (6/10)
A shaky performance with several fouls, one of which earned him a yellow card. Looked uncomfortable against Forest’s pace. Had to be taken off in the second half due to injury scares.

Archie Gray: (6/10)
Showed promise with a few key clearances but was part of a backline that struggled to contain Forest’s transitions.

Destiny Udogie: (7/10)
Energetic down the flank and provided some width, but his defensive positioning was exploited at times.

Rodrigo Bentancur: (6/10)
Worked hard in midfield, trying to orchestrate play, but lacked the spark to unlock Forest’s defence. Substituted after 64 minutes.

Pape Matar Sarr: (5/10)
Failed to impose himself in midfield and struggled to cope with Forest’s pressing. Substituted with Bentacur.

Brennan Johnson: (6/10)
Created a couple of decent chances but lacked composure in the final third.

Dejan Kulusevski: (6/10)
Displayed some intent but was unable to provide the decisive pass or shot. Wasn’t his usual best. Could have had a better game like.

Heung-Min Son: (8/10)
Tottenham’s most lively player, with some good efforts on goal. However, he lacked support and precision when it mattered most.

Dominic Solanke: (6/10)
Struggled to impact the game and was largely isolated against a well-organised Forest defence.

Substitutes:

James Maddison: (7/10)
Added much-needed creativity and energy to Tottenham’s attack but couldn’t turn the tide.

Provided fresh legs in midfield but failed to make a significant impact in the final third.
