Postecoglou provides Tottenham fitness update on Radu Dragusin

Tottenham Hotspur were beaten on Thursday evening for a second straight time in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest claiming a 1-0 success at the City Ground, courtesy of Anthony Elanga’s goal in the first half. The visitors looked toothless from start to finish with Ange Postecoglou admitting that his limited resources were overworked by the tight list of fixtures.

Opinion- Postecoglou's stubbornness could spell the end of Tottenham star that club 'cant afford' to lose.

A severely trimmed Tottenham backline suffered a fresh setback as Radu Dragusin picked up an injury and had to be subbed off. The Romanian international was Spurs’ only natural defender coming into the game with Ben Davies, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven serving time on the sidelines, and his withdrawal from the game left the team with makeshift options in the heart of defence.

Ange Postecoglou was asked about the central defender’s fitness worry and had the following to say in response, as quoted by Football London, in his press conference following the match.

“He was a bit sore. He hurt his ankle and said he couldn’t continue so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Dragusin’s injury spells further trouble for Tottenham Hotspur, whose next match is against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Though Ben Davies is likely to return to the fore at the time, it is far from ideal given that Romero and Van de Ven are not expected to return any time soon. That said, Djed Spence is also suspended for the game against Vitor Pereira’s outfit.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Archie Gray could partner with Davies for the fixture between Spurs and Wolves on Sunday while Postecoglou will hope that Dragusin’s injury is not serious enough for him to spend an extended spell on the treatment table. An update from the manager or Tottenham is imminent in due course and it will be interesting to see if a possible injury causes changes to the club’s plans for the winter transfer window as well.
