Tottenham have been linked with a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha
Tottenham are in desperate need of bolstering their squad in the January transfer window after a poor first half of the 2024/25 campaign.
Ange Postecoglou saw his side suffer a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day and has been left with a lack of options at the heart of the backline and forward department ahead of facing Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final game of 2024 on Sunday. They are sitting 12th in the Premier League table, having won just once in their last six games.
It has come to a point where the Greek-Aussie manager cannot ask anymore from his available players, who have played non-stop football in the last couple of months. Thus, Spurs will be hoping to seize upon any potential market opportunities they get in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha has been subject to links with a move to White Hart Lane. Tottenham have been actively looking to replace Richarlison given the frustrations among the chiefs at Hotspur Way regarding his availability concerns that has limited his game time under Postecoglou.
As a result, the North Londoners have been scouring the market for attacking reinforcements, and Matheus Cunha of Wolves has emerged as a potential target.
The Brazilian forward has undoubtedly been Wolves’ best player in an otherwise dire season thus far, scoring 10 goals and supplying four assists in 18 Premier League appearances. He was particularly in dazzling form in the Wanderers’ 2-0 win over Manchester United at Molineux on Boxing Day, scoring an Olympic goal.
The 25-year-old’s performances have unsurprisingly caught the attention of several Premier League clubs. However, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Cunha and his camp will not force a move away from Wolves midway through the campaign. They are wary of interest from Premier League clubs and also from the cash-rich Saudi Pro League.
Wolves have been hellbent that the South American won’t be allowed to leave in the winter transfer window. They plan to hold contract talks with the forward’s entourage—with current terms expiring in the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt).

Cunha’s decision to not force a move away from the relegation-threatened Wolves should come as a blow for Tottenham, who were hoping to strengthen their attacking unit. His presence in the forward ranks would have beefed up the roster at Ange’s disposal, particularly after Timo Werner’s underwhelming displays, Son Heung-min’s diminishing powers and Richarlison’s injury concerns.
